We’re getting ready for CL’s 4th Social Lightscapes workshop: hosted by QUT in Brisbane’s West End area, 13-16 December. Some places still available for participants to join us. Sponsored by iGuzzini, the workshop involves developing social research strategies for understanding social dynamics in the West End, and for developing lighting design responses, including doing on-site lighting mock ups, and presenting design strategies to a public audience.
Brisbane’s West End is a particularly interesting and challenging site for a Lightscapes workshop, and offers a chance to explore some of the most pressing issues in urban planning and design: this is an area of rapid development, population shift and ‘gentrification’, in which lighting needs to play a role in managing change and supporting urban multi-culturalism, equality and diversity.
