Dr Don Slater is a co-founder of Configuring Light/Staging the Social and Associate Professor (Reader) in Sociology at the LSE. His current research builds on an extensive research and publishing record in the sociology of material culture and economic life, new media and digital culture and visual culture. Major publications include: New Media, Development and Globalization: Making Connections in the Global South (Polity 2013); The Technological Economy (2005, with Andrew Barry); Market Society (2001 with Fran Tonkiss); The Internet: An Ethnographic Approach (2000, with Daniel Miller); Consumer Culture and Modernity (1997).

Dr Joanne Entwistle

Dr Joanne Entwistle is a co-founder of Configuring Light/Staging the Social and Senior Lecturer in Sociology at King’s College London. She has published extensively on the sociology of fashion, dress and the body and aesthetic markets and economies. Major publications include: Fashioning Models: Image, Text, Industry, co-edited with Elizabeth Wissinger (Berg, forthcoming); The Aesthetic Economy: markets and value in clothing and modelling (Berg, 2009); Body Dressing, co-edited with Elizabeth Wilson (Berg, 2001); The Fashioned Body: fashion, dress and modern social theory (Polity, 2000).

Dr Elettra Bordonaro

iGuzzini-funded LSE Visiting Fellow,
Social Light Movement, Light Follows Behaviour

Dr Elettra Bordonaro joined the Configuring Light team in June 2015 to begin a 2-year visiting fellowship in the LSE Sociology Department, funded by the Italian lighting manufacturer iGuzzini. During the fellowship, Configuring Light and Dr Elettra Bordonaro are hosting a series of six workshops across the globe – from Muscat, Oman, to Sydney, Australia – to explore and build expertise in social research in lighting design. Elettra joins Configuring Light as a leading lighting designer with a record of innovative and social science-oriented work focused on public realm design. She is a certified architect holding a PhD in architecture from the Politecnico di Torino, a co-founder of the Social Light Movement and principal of the lighting design practice Light Follows Behaviour.

Mona Sloane

Co-Founder and Former Member of Configuring Light

Mona Sloane co-founded Configuring Light/Staging the Social and worked on the programme  until the end of June 2016. She is a PhD student in the London School of Economics, Department of Sociology. As a founding member of the CL team, Mona helped build up the Configuring Light programme, particularly its Knowledge Exchange and Impact (KEI) activities. For example, she took a leading role in CL's Urban Lightscapes/Social Nightscapes project and in CL's Lighting Inequalities project.
