Following the success of the Urban Lightscapes/Social Nightscapes project which took place on Peabody’s Whitecross Estate in 2014, the Configuring Light team continues to work with Peabody on two aspects:
New Lights for Whitecross – Configuring Light and Light Follows Behaviour are contracted to help facilitate the development of a new lighting scheme for the Whitecross Estate. This new scheme will be based on the Urban Lightscapes/Social Nightscapes workshop outputs and the team, therefore, is collaborating with the workshop participants to achieve a coherent design. The Configuring Light team are conducting the remaining social research on the Whitecross Estate and its surrounding area.
Social Research in Design Guidelines – Configuring Light are commissioned to conduct research into Peabody in order to develop guidelines for social research in design. These guidelines outline how Peabody can draw on existing social knowledge within its organisation and integrate additional social research elements into new (lighting) design projects and developments.
